Acceptable use policy
Last updated October 19, 2026
Every Botensten Mail customer shares the reputation of the servers that send their email. This policy keeps it good for everyone.
Permission
Only email people who asked to hear from you: they signed up through a form, or gave you their address and agreed to receive your newsletter. No bought, rented, shared or scraped lists, and no addresses collected for one purpose and used for another.
Content you can't send
Anything illegal; phishing, malware or deceptive links; impersonation; harassment or threats; sexual content involving minors; get-rich-quick, pyramid or gambling schemes; counterfeit goods; unlicensed pharmaceuticals; and anything that hides who sent it.
Every email must
Come from a domain you control, say who it's from, carry a working unsubscribe link (added for you), and include a postal address where the law asks for one.
Limits we enforce
A campaign pauses automatically when over 2% of its emails bounce or 0.08% are reported as spam. Past 5% or 0.3%, the account is blocked until we review it. New contacts get a small first batch before the rest is sent.
Consequences
We may pause sends, suspend or close accounts that break this policy, without refund when the breach is deliberate. To report abuse sent through Botensten Mail, forward the email to charles@botensten.com.
